A protein deficient diet can also result in the malabsorption of other nutrients and minerals our bodies need. Animal-based proteins such as meat, dairy and fish also contain high amounts of nutrients such as niacin, iron, zinc, calcium and Vitamin B12. If you’re eating plant-based proteins only, be sure to keep your other nutrients in balance too.
